San Antonio Spurs, the new dynasty in the NBA?

 Tim Duncan

After Los Angeles Lakers won the 3 championship ring in the last decade, will San Antonio Spurs will follow what Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics made, winning multiple titles in consecutive years? I think this will depends on
how Tim Duncan will play. After watching the NBA Finals Game 4, I realized how tough would be San Antonio in the next few years. I’ve been busy in the last few weeks looking for a good school for Culinary Arts, http://www.csca.edu/. Anyhoo, Tim Duncan played the heart and soul of the team. He’s giving his teammate that cannot be measured, the heart of a leader. Tim Duncan has been superb this year together with Tony Parker who has just won his first NBA Finals MVP, and will be marrying Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria this July on France. Tony Parker was inspired every game he played because his fiancee, Eva Longoria.

The San Antonio Dynasty will depends on what the other teams will be doing this offseason. Phoenix Suns is always a favorite to be their mortal competitor in the West. If Steve Nash and the rest of the Suns will be healthy next NBA season they will be a favorite to dethroned San Antonio.

Rookies to watch

After my blog post here about the NBA draft lets talk about on who among them
will follow the footsteps of the young rising stars like Deron Williams and Brandon Roy. After reviewing the future rookie video clips, I will give a review on who among them will make an impact to the NBA. Greg Oden no question will lead all the rookie this year. But who will shine after him? I think Kevin Durant, Joakim Noa and Yi Jianlian. Also I would like to mention few draftees like Al Horford of Florida, Brandon Wright of North carolina and Aaron Brooks of Oregon. Lets give a brief observation on the probable shining stars in the NBA. Kevin Durant is a prolific scorer that can shoot at any given night. If Seattle will pick him he’s a great addition to this ballclub. He will surely will fit to the system of Seattle because in the past few years Seattle have been known to be a run and gun team. Yi Jianlian is another versatile scorer. He can shoot running mid range jumper and with his speed and outside shooting I think he can open up the defense of the opponent every night. And what about Joakim Noa who led Florida to 2 NCAA title? Joakim Noa will certainly make an impact in the NBA because he can play defense and a power inside.

In this draft, there are lot of international players want to try their luck in the NBA. One of the players that I’m looking at was the 7 foot 1 giant from Slovenia. I think he will follow the footstep of international player like Adreas Biedrins. Also one thing that caught my eyes was the brother of Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, although he don’t play like Pau Gasol but I think he has potential on being close to what his brother has achieved in the NBA.

San Antonio Spurs is one win away from winning their 4th NBA title of their franchise. The whole series was dominated by San Antonio Spurs. Will Cleveland can still make a comeback? I don’t think they can still win the NBA Title this year. With the way Tim Duncan and Tony Parker is playing together with the rest of the team. I think San Antonio is invincible in this series.

On the Game 3 of NBA Finals 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers showed that they can play too. They almost won the game, unfortunately in the last minute of the game they cannot convert with a clutch shot.

Tony Parker should be the MVP of the NBA Finals 2007. He played this series tremendously. Tim Duncan still a contender though.

What I’m missing here in this Finals is Robert Horry. He seems to be not showing what he really was. I haven’t see the clutch shooting and the eagerness during this NBA Finals. Lebron is slowly showing that he can dominate a game anytime he wants. I’m seeing the scenario in the next 3-5 years they will win an NBA Title and Lebron would be the MVP of the Season. He’s still improving his game decision making and his shooting. Lets look forward on the next god of the NBA.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas played the best game of his NBA Finals career on Game 3. Palovic also made an impact on the last 3 games. If Cavs could sustain this energy from this guy, and they will get support from the outside, by Daniel Gibson and Donnyelle Marshall. This team will have the chance to extend it atlest to Game 7.

My prediction would be Game 4 -5 will be dominated by Cleveland and on Game 6-7 San Antonio will took the title.

NBA #1 Pick in 2007?

Greg Oden

I would love to see who will be the next NBA’s #1 pick overall. Portland TrailBlazer has the luxury of choosing between Kevin Durant of Texas and Greg Oden of Ohio State.

Here’s my review on the two athlete. Greg Oden is a force in the inside while Kevin Durant is dangerous outside. Many basketball critics say that Greg Oden plays like Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. On the other hand Kevin Durant plays like Dirk Nowitzki and Tracy McGrady.

Who among them should Portland look for? Based on their lineup I think they should go for Kevin Durant since they have a already LaMarcus Aldridge at center position together with Jamaal Magloire. Kevin Durant can play the small forward position. So the lineup will be Brandon Roy and Fred Jones/Ime Udoka on the backcourt, Kevin Durant and Zach Randolph on the forward position, and Lamarcus/Jamaal would be on the center position. Portland needs a strong small forward on their lineup. Kevin Durant is the perfect fit for this position.

Spurs and Cavs in NBA Finals 2007

The stage is now set for the NBA Finals 2007. The Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs are squaring off for the most prestigious showdown in Basketball.

Lebron James Eastern Conference Finals

The young Cleveland Cavaliers subdue the veteran lineup of Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals in Game 6 of their best of 7 series. No one expect the upset made by the Cavaliers. On the other hand San Antonio beat their western conference rival Phoenix Suns.

Manu Ginobili

Here’s my quick prediction on the upcoming NBA finals. I think if Lebron will play the same game he played last Eastern Conference Finals the Cleveland Cavaliers can finish the NBA finals series in 6 games. But watch out for Bruce Bowen because I’m sure he will try to make Lebron’s game miserable. The key is Lebron James for Cleveland to win the NBA championship.

What about San Antonio Spurs? They will surely dominate this game with Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli and Tim Duncan on their lineup. These 3 will have to do their usual job, attack the basket and intimidating defense.

Tim Duncan

In every team they need an x-factor to be able to pull the win. The two x-factor for both team would be Daniel Gibson and Manu Ginobli. In the last time Spurs win the NBA Finals it was Manu Ginobli single handedly lift the Spurs to win the Finals against Detroit Pistons. And remember last year, Manu wasn’t able to play well because of his injury. And what happen is they didn’t reached the NBA Finals. On the other hand Daniel Gibson is the key guy that help Cleveland win over Detroit Pistons on Game 6. What about Robert Horry? Horry last year made a playoff heroic again and again and again. But this NBA Finals he might do it again with his clutch shooting. But we also have to look on what Anderson Verejao did this playoffs to be able to help Cleveland to achieve a franchise history. I can compare Verejao to Dennis Rodman on how he play the game. But the difference between them is Anderson knows how to shoot the ball and Dennis is more scrappy player than anyone in the NBA History.

Anderson Verejao

So who will win? I will give my vote to San Antonio this year. But on the upcoming year, if Lebron will step up his game to another level he may be able to build the next dynasty in the NBA.
