State Farm Challenge 2007

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

The game was held on Thomas & Mack Center where USA Basketball Team played an exhibition game. The team was divided into two, Blue and White Team with 15,132 in attendance. It was a close game from the start. One of the remarkable move there was when Lebron James blocked the shot of Kobe Bryant when he was trying to make a reverse dunk. Carmelo Anthony tops all scorer with 28 points but it was Kobe Bryant who took the show. He made another clutch basket with 6 seconds left in the regulation. Lebron James try to be the hero of the game but he missed his running jumper as the buzzer sounds. I hope to see Kobe Bryant in the FIBA America qualifying match and also in Olympics to duplicate his performance here on this game. Thats it for now. My friends invite me to a San Diego Envy Nightclub. I’ll update you on USA Basketball Teams road to the Olympics.

Jason Kidd, leader of the USA Basketball Team

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Jason Kidd told on his interview that he will lead the young guys on how to win in international competition. Kidd made a statement the he joined the team not to loose. He’s right, Jason Kidd never loose a game in international game. He lead the US to win the 2000 FIBA Men’s Basketball Championship together with his teammate Vince Carter. I think Jason Kidd is the best player in the team right now. With due respect to Kobe, Carmello and Lebron, Jason Kidd knows how to break the zone and knows how to pass at the right place and at the right time. Jason Kidd is the perfect addition to this team. Thats it for now got to check Miami plastic surgery first. I’ll update you on the lineup of the USA Basketball Team on this blog. So keep reading my blog.

Kobe, The missing link in USA Basketball Team?

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Kobe Bryant recently joined the USA Basketball Team and many spectators believe that Kobe is the best player in the world right now. Kobe prove it when he squares off against Lebron James in State Farm Challenge. The game was an exhibition game for USA Basketball Team. Is Kobe the real answer to the US Basketball Team? Probably yes, Kobe prove that he can score anywhere he wants and can make clutch shot in the closing seconds of the game unlike Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade who still need to learn more on how to play the game. Why Kobe joined the USA Basketball Team? Kobe didn’t joined the last 2 USA Basketball Team that competes in the Olympics but this time he will make sure that he will be part of the team. I think Kobe wants to prove to the world that he’s the greatest player in the world. And by leading the USA Men’s Basketball Team to the promise land he can achieve it. We’ll lets wait and see if he can do it. In the mean time I need to check out prom dresses 2008.

Rookie Unleashed

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Kevin Durant, the no. 2 pick in this year NBA Draft unleashed the bomb on the State Farm Challenge. Kevin Durant was recently added to the lineup together with Greg Oden. Durant score 22 points in a 9 out of 14 shooting. Now this is what we called NBA caliber rookie. Prior to this game during the summer league Durant struggle from the game. This game might be the preview of what he can do when the NBA season 2007-2008 starts. While looking for cosmetic surgery in Houston Texas, I saw the highlights of the game. Greg Oden didn’t play because of his injury. He might also missed the the NBA Summer Camp.

NBA Summer League

marco-belinelli.jpg

This morning I have the chance to watch the NBA Summer league because I have schedule that day to inquire on a culinary school, http://www.orlandoculinary.com and only have 2 hours free time to watch TV. The game is being played by Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers. Golden state is parading their ace rookie Marco Belinelli. Marco Belinelli scored 23 points to lead the Golden State to victory. One of the highlights of the game was the play of Louis Williams who lead the 76ers with 23 points. Giving the Philadelphia a player they can use in the regular season.

Is Marco Belinelli for real? Is he the one that warriors needed to replace Jason Richardson? He may not that atlethic, but certainly he can knockdown the three’s in any corner of the rainbow lane. He reminds me of Peja Stojakovic. But I think Marco Belinelli is much better player than Peja because he can dribble the ball before he shoot unlike Peja Stojakovic who can only score through picks. Although it’s early to say if he can make an impact in the NBA. Lets just wait and see what he can do this regular season.

NBA’s 50 Greatest Player

Monday, July 9th, 2007

This morning while watching NBATV, I saw the 1997 All-Stars Game. I was at New York city BTW to visit my brother that is who recently stay here because of his study at Gibbs Melville School. And didn’t realize that day also was the announcement of 50 greatest players in the NBA. Only few players of that lineup that I’m familiar with. When I say familiar it is the time that when I started watching NBA. Here are the few players that I can still remember that I saw play when I was a kid. It was Shaquille O’neal, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler,Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Scottie Pippen, and Michael Jordan. Who are the players that didn’t make it on the lineup? That was the question that came to my mind during that ceremony.

Lets talk about the all star game now. The lineup of the East was Grant Hill, Anfernee Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, and Dikembe Mutombo. On the other side, they have Karl Malone, John Stockton, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton. It was a very good ballgame. Glen Rice took over the game with 26 points. That all-star also was the time where Kobe Bryant won the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Championship and also score 31 points on Rookie Challenge. It was also the rookie year of the 2-time NBA MVP Steve Nash. Although that game was won by the sophomore. The Sophomore team composed of Antoine Walker, Marcus Camby, Erick Dampier, Kerry Kittles, Allen Iverson, Vitaly Potapenko, John Wallace, and Ray Allen. Almost all of them have made good reputation on the basketball court.

Block Buster Trade II

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

While preparing to cook my recent Bread machine recipes which I found in the internet, I came across to the article by Rick Kamla in NBA.com. Rick Kamla recently talked about the latest trade in the NBA. Where he featured the two trades I’ve recently discussed on my recent blog post. And I think we’re on the same page regarding the trades recently happen. And here’s my follow up on the trade that is happening now. Jason Richardson was recently acquired by Charlotte Bobcats in exchange with Brandan Wright. I think this is not a fair trade. First of all, J-Rich was just on his prime. And with what happen last playoffs he really plays very well. If Jason Richardson will be healthy he can gave you a 20-5-5 game every night. Although Golden State is looking for a solid frontline, but I don’t think it’s a solution to acquire Rookie Brandan Wright. Checking the records of Brandan Wright I can say he’s a powerful big man. He won few honors in College including MVP honors as a rookie.

Let’s wait and see who really won the trade. Brandan Wright has lot of potentials and based on the history of draft, Golden State got lot of talented players including Jason Richardson, Latrell Sprewell,  Monta Ellis, and Andris Biedrins. I hope the best for both teams. One thing is for sure, Charlotte Bobcats got what they really want. An explosive 2 guy that can handle the ball in the last few seconds of the game.

NBA Trade June 2007

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

As the new season starts on November. As leisuretime holidays starts. Teams will try to get the best players for their team that will fit to their system and salary cap. There are lot of blockbuster trade happening in the last few months. I’ll give you the insights on some of them.

Zach Randolph, Fred Jones, and Dan Dickau traded to Steve Francis and Channing Frye.

On this trade I think both will benefit the trade. Channing Frye I think would be the missing link for the Power forward position. Steve Francis if healthy would certainly will help young players like Greg Oden and Brandon Roy to be the next franchise players in the NBA. Zach Randolph and Fred Jones will certainly be a great additional to New York Knicks because they can play the position Power Forward and Small Forward. We know that Zach Randolph is a great force inside. With Eddie Curry on the center position they will surely dominate the inside and make New York Knicks to be a tough team in the East.

Ray Allen and draft rights to Glen Davis traded to Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, and draft rights to Jeff Green.

I don’t think this is a fair trade. Ray Allen is still very productive over the last few years. But with Kevin Durant on the lineup he might fill up the role of Ray Allen. Wally Szczerbiak didn’t have a good season last year because of injury. But this guy can play basketball if healthy. Delonte West, another great player but I think he need to figure out his main role first to be able to be effective.

Thats it for now. I know Kobe Bryant wanted to be traded. There are rumors that probably Jermaine Oneal join Kobe Bryant in L.A. in exchange for Andrew Bynum. I’m sure there will be more trade soon in the following months. I’ll keep you updated on it.

San Antonio Spurs, the new dynasty in the NBA?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

 Tim Duncan

After Los Angeles Lakers won the 3 championship ring in the last decade, will San Antonio Spurs will follow what Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics made, winning multiple titles in consecutive years? I think this will depends on
how Tim Duncan will play. After watching the NBA Finals Game 4, I realized how tough would be San Antonio in the next few years. I’ve been busy in the last few weeks looking for a good school for Culinary Arts, http://www.csca.edu/. Anyhoo, Tim Duncan played the heart and soul of the team. He’s giving his teammate that cannot be measured, the heart of a leader. Tim Duncan has been superb this year together with Tony Parker who has just won his first NBA Finals MVP, and will be marrying Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria this July on France. Tony Parker was inspired every game he played because his fiancee, Eva Longoria.

The San Antonio Dynasty will depends on what the other teams will be doing this offseason. Phoenix Suns is always a favorite to be their mortal competitor in the West. If Steve Nash and the rest of the Suns will be healthy next NBA season they will be a favorite to dethroned San Antonio.

Rookies to watch

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

After my blog post here about the NBA draft lets talk about on who among them
will follow the footsteps of the young rising stars like Deron Williams and Brandon Roy. After reviewing the future rookie video clips, I will give a review on who among them will make an impact to the NBA. Greg Oden no question will lead all the rookie this year. But who will shine after him? I think Kevin Durant, Joakim Noa and Yi Jianlian. Also I would like to mention few draftees like Al Horford of Florida, Brandon Wright of North carolina and Aaron Brooks of Oregon. Lets give a brief observation on the probable shining stars in the NBA. Kevin Durant is a prolific scorer that can shoot at any given night. If Seattle will pick him he’s a great addition to this ballclub. He will surely will fit to the system of Seattle because in the past few years Seattle have been known to be a run and gun team. Yi Jianlian is another versatile scorer. He can shoot running mid range jumper and with his speed and outside shooting I think he can open up the defense of the opponent every night. And what about Joakim Noa who led Florida to 2 NCAA title? Joakim Noa will certainly make an impact in the NBA because he can play defense and a power inside.

In this draft, there are lot of international players want to try their luck in the NBA. One of the players that I’m looking at was the 7 foot 1 giant from Slovenia. I think he will follow the footstep of international player like Adreas Biedrins. Also one thing that caught my eyes was the brother of Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, although he don’t play like Pau Gasol but I think he has potential on being close to what his brother has achieved in the NBA.
